They are bioluminescent, probably why all call them ‘biomeds’ for short.
They are very, very beautiful. Really, their names are nearly unpronounceable, but they come from a gaseous/liquid planet and are empathic to an exponential level. They just like to help; the best neighbors you could ever hope to have. I awoke in a clean, warm cot in a GMVC medical bay looking at Sylvania sleeping peacefully. Finally. A moment of relief. As I lay watching the stars through the massive floor to ceiling port window, I remembered that as I finally passed out that the bright white GMVC medical spotlights seemed to be coming near us, but I couldn’t be sure. One thing is certain, I feel fantastic, just wonderful.
Ok, I can work with this.
One of the biomeds came in, explained they had repaired our ship, and there was no charge once they realized who I was – a starlighter in human form, testing the limits of this highly limited human cerebrum. Too much information to store, not enough space.
We were fine, just a little oxygen depletion, obviously malnourished and had some minor radiation poisoning, but all had been reversed.
They inquired as to who had damaged our ship, and I told them.
The look was unmistakable. Always watching, but taking no action. They took pleasure and reward from curing and caring for all living things, but they knew about most humans.
lyrics
I should have warned you
about the men from earth
and all the treachery
except for a few
and all the angels
could see them coming
from many miles away
many miles away
I have seen so many
start out so strong
but crash and burn
because I crashed too
and all the people
really should have known
they carry it with them
except for a few
and all the angels
could see us coming
from many miles away
