Floating debris?

I can’t reach anyone on the Adrastea base.. been hailing them on every conceivable frequency with zero response, only white noise static in response. How is this possible? We are lower on fuel than initially anticipated, the battle to leave Earth expended much of our resources. The countries of the United States, Russia and China are blaming each other for our destructive exit and things have started to get ugly.

Not my problem.

Without enough fuel, we have to choose between having enough power to reach the Ninth Planet to fling us away from the Sol solar system or running life support oxygenators. I had turned off artificial gravity to just get this far; we have to have both fuel and air.

No Earth-based vessels or crews could exist out here? Earth scientists made it seem like sending a crude rover measuring device to the planet Mars was a massive achievement.

I see where the debris came from.
